Prepare for approximately 130km, rolling and sometimes steep mountainous terrain. Expect to be on the bike for between 8-10 hours. We seek out the roads less traveled, aiming to be quite remote at times. The surface will be mixed, with sections ranging from perfect tarmac to rugged gravel. There will be checkpoint locations and a supplied route, which will be revealed only to confirmed participants 48 hours before the ride.
Riders must bring team spirit, an adventurous mind-set and strong legs. Road helmets and drop bars are required – No TT helmets or TT bars. We recommend 25mm or 28mm tires for extra resilience against punctures. We strongly recommend teams use wheels with aluminium brake tracks with clincher tyres.
Teams must carry their own spares and be completely self-sufficient. Minimum kit should include two tubes, multi-tool, pump, patch kit, and a chain-tool and link per rider. Highly recommended kit also includes spare food and clothing, a GPS bike computer, and one spare tyre per team. Be prepared to dress for the heat of the tropics and bring a light gilet, race cape or rain jacket. This event is completely unsupported. You are responsible for keeping yourself and your team going.
