Using our vast experience of road riding and our love of the history of the sport, we have created Rapha Randonnées: point-to-point itineraries in cycling’s classic territories, and in select destinations across the world. Take on mythical climbs in the Alps, Pyrenees and Dolomites, or cycle the road less travelled through the beautiful landscapes of Japan, California or Corsica. Whichever you choose, you will experience the same levels of service and support. Day 1

Chia - Facatativá

Landing in this amazing country, we’ll take today to get used to the altitude and riding. From our base at a country house, we’ll head out for a relatively flat route that takes in one climb around Bogota’s plateau on the western border – perhaps even trying the corn grown in the fields – before returning back for a typical Colombian dinner of Ajiaco, a hearty chicken and potato soup.

Day 2

Facatativá - Honda

Today we’ll descend over 2,000 metres in altitude to end up in Honda, which is only 300 metres above sea level. Having experienced the vast changes in weather that Colombian cyclists have to be prepared for, we’ll stay in a beautiful colonial house. The homegrown food we’ll savour today includes almojabana with Ponymalta, a typical snack that riders fuel their efforts with.

Day 3

Honda - Alto de Letras

Alto de Letras looms large in the pantheon of great road climbs: 80km of uphill that starts in suffocating humidity and ends at 3,700m above sea level. This will be our goal today, weather dependent. As a reward for our endeavours, we’ll be spending the night at a mountain resort with hot springs.

Day 4

Today we’ll be riding up and down all day through the famous coffee plantations of Colombia, passing endless small villages and towns as we go. Day 5

Day 6

Buenavista - Buga

Our final day of riding promises much. This is the end of our odyssey, the grand finale of a hardy journey across this great country and today more than any you’ll feel like you’ve reached the heart of Colombia. We’ll start with a climb before descending down towards the valley, taking in ‘middle of nowhere’ unpaved routes before finishing at another traditional lodging. The team.. James, Nico, Vicki and Livio just blew my mind and exceeded my expectations. They were sooo patient even at my lowest energy point when I perhaps wasn't at my finest the team was always there for me!

— Randonnee Dolomites, July 2016

So, you could say the odds were against me having one of the most rewarding and inspirational experiences of my life - yet that is exactly what the Randonnée proved to be.

FAQ

Am I strong enough for the trip?

All our trips are physically demanding, but some are harder than others. Randonnées and Cent Cols Challenges are among the toughest, and Retreats are among the most relaxing. Our guides, soigneurs and mechanics will support every rider to go beyond their usual level of riding. Each individual trip is rated for difficulty, and each trip type page gives rough guidelines on who the trip is for, to help you decide if it’s right for you.

Can I rent a bike?

We have a fleet of top-specification hire bikes available for rent on our European departures. They cost £50 per day. We ask that guests requiring a bike tell us as far as is possible in advance, so we can guarantee the right size is available, and also to send us your fit measurements, so our mechanics can set up the bike for you ready for the start of your trip. If you’re renting a bike you need to remember to bring your helmet, pedals and saddle to your trip start.
