On Tuesday 19th July, whilst the pros were taking a well earned day off, RCC members travelled to Switzerland to tackle stage 17 of this years Tour de France.

Fifteen members traveled from Bern to Aigle ready to take on 125km and over 3,200 metres of elevation. The Col de la Forclaz was the first test for the riders in some punishing heat. The Mobile Cycle Club was stationed at the bottom of the descent serving coffees and other refreshments. Having cooled off the riders faced an ascent to Finhaut – Emosson, at 1,960m. With a number of fans lining the roadside ‘Allez Allez’ greeted the RCC riders and gave them a glimpse into the life of a grand tour rider.

Upon reaching the summit riders regrouped to take in the view. The descent offered an incredible ride back into Martigny with peloton esque efficiency, each member taking turns to face the headwind. Pros for a day, and what a day at that.
