RCC Japan members this month enjoyed a two-day excursion to Shōdoshima Island, home of Kankakei gorge. A nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty, Kankakei is celebrated for its Japanese maple forests, and revered by cyclists for its punishing switchbacks. The group met at midnight in Kobe for a seven-hour ferry journey to the island, setting them up for 170km of scenic and challenging riding across two days. RCC Japan hopes to host similar trips every month.
