Daniel Wakefield Pasley

Daniel was born in Annapolis, Maryland, on February 19, 1972. In 1987, after years of skating (that’s skateboarding, not rollerblading, ice skating or long boarding) in slush and rain and humidity, he moved to Los Angeles. Skateboarding led to snowboarding which led to mountain biking which led to cycling, which led to everywhere. Daniel believes in the fusion of athleticism, style and creativity he first experienced on a skateboard, is the whole point of life - the picking and making of lines.
Daniel is the guy who shows up late without tools, tubes or whatever, and on the wrong bike. Four years ago and before he knew what the ride was all about, Daniel came thirty minutes late, on a fixie-cross bike, to the Barlow Trail Century. The ride is basically an out-and-back with 10,000 feet of climbing and virtually no flat. So for six hours he zigzagged up and zigzagged down the 10% plus side of Mount Hood. He’s totally committed to experiencing the epic almost to the point of self-sabotage, and can turn any ride into a death march through sheer under-preparedness or curiosity. Or stupidity.
He is very happily married to Annemieke Clark. They have six-month-old identical twin boys named Otto and Oliver. He is a writer and an art director and he takes things way too personally.

“At the risk of embarrassing myself, riding is my life. My religion, philosophy and ethos. And my preferred form of transportation wrapped in one. It’s the ultimate transcendence - moving between places, moods, climates and perspectives both physically and mentally. It gets worse, my favorite way to ride is fixed. So yeah, I’m pretty much a bike-fag.“
