Cyclocross Photos: Week One

Di Jeremy Dunn • 11th October 2011 02:28am • Postato in Events

If anything is apparent from the Rapha Facebook photo competition it is that everyone has a different idea about what cyclocross means to them. And none of them are wrong. There were fun pictures with beer (and cupcakes), children and lots and lots of mud. There were also photos of Euro-pros racing through sand and mud, barriers being crossed and blood being shed. But what makes a great cyclocross photo, one that could be the epitome of cyclocross?

The theme all this week will be Team Rapha-FOCUS and with the three riders (Jones, Powers and McDonald) all in the top 10 at yesterdays USGP race in Fort Collins, Colorado, there should be some photos floating around out there. Take a look at what we have determined were a combination of the most "liked" photos as well as a couple of others that we liked and then, in the comments section below, post which you think should be this week's winner. Then, all this week head over to the Rapha Facebook Page and post any photos that you may have of Team Rapha-FOCUS and remember that it could be anything to do with the team - their wheels, their tent, their fantastic Mechanic Brian Dallas (lets see some of those!) - anything goes. Post a comment to vote for your favorite photo.

Voting closes Wednesday at midnight.

I like his ear to ear grin and the giddy up in his step.
Perhaps a beginner, with his running shoes and flat pedals, we all started there!!

Photo C - It says 'Ahh that's why I love this sport!'

Rebecca Wuenschel

11th October 2011 10:33pm

I think photo C has got a great energy revealing a multitude of aspects of a bike event. It shows the scene behind the event, the prep, the dedication to such an event having to pack all of the gear etc to be a part if it. It also tells a story of the fact it usually requires more than the rider to participate in such an event. The support of friends and family as in the various portable chairs, empty at the moment. The colors captured in the photo are rich and of real life. I vote for this photo!

A - definitely!

Chad DeVall

12th October 2011 03:20pm

tough decision between A & C

photo A elegantly tells a story. Racing in it's purest form and in the most optimal of conditions, a cyclists perseverance against foe and mother nature. And finally when the smoke clears the person still has enough respect to line his shoes up for this most impressive print. This photo almost brings a tear to my eye.

Photo C screams gas, grass or ass….no body rides for free. And judging by the gal with the skinny jeans just to the right of screen they succeeded getting to the race with option # 3 , which leads to > skinny jeans slightly confuses me. Is this a bike polo event OR a CX race ? Also slightly distracting as she does wear them well.

I VOTE A

Todd Munson

12th October 2011 03:46pm

A all the way!

Stuart Hannon

12th October 2011 03:49pm

Can't understand the popularity of A, my mtb shoes look like that almost every weekend so nothing special there for me!

Still vote B!

I am horrified at what "Chad", a few people above, had to say about photo C. Extremely disrespectful, sexist, and completely unnecessary. Really???

I can't stand cleaning my shoes after a mudder, you wash them, stuff news papers in them, they're still damp the next day, then the smell sets in…

I go with A.

Slate Olson

B. It's a family sport.

B. Without question. . . . Or A, also excellent. Hmm. Two very different shots. I'll go with Photo A!. And I'm not even a friend or relation of the photographer!

Matt Forster

I am really confused by Chad DeVall's comment. So if a woman is at a cyclocross event in tight jeans, she must have doled out sexual favors to get there? Interesting. I think you should put that on a T-shirt next time you attend a race. I would be interested to see how the women cyclists respond.

Requesting a little closure to this contest, please. Voting ended Wednesday midnight, yes? Is Slate announcing with his pink post that B is the winner? Or is that just his vote?

Who has won, please?
