Raid Norway - RCC Edition

2nd - 6th August 2017

Reconnect with your love for the bike and exploration

Norway is vast, rugged and offers a real cycling challenge with its unforgiving weather, climbs up to snow-capped peaks and descents that finish along the shorelines of endless fjords. A four-day Rapha Cycling Club edition of the Raid Norway allows you to sample the harsh beauty of this Nordic gem. The focus is on local hotels and cuisine and building camaraderie with your RCC club mates. Expect a parcours to test even the most hardy, making the post-ride relaxation that much sweeter.

Who is it for?

Reconnect with your love for the bike and exploration. Raids are designed for independent riders with a thirst for going off the beaten track, and exploring lesser-known but nonetheless spectacular destinations and roads. You’ll still have access to a Rapha guide, full mechanical and logistical support, but the emphasis is on self-sufficiency, creating an adventure through wild and unspoilt landscapes. Each night we’ll greet you with hearty food and charming, rustic accommodation, to prepare you for another day’s exploring. It is cycling taken back to the essentials: a bike, a fantastic route to ride, and the self-imposed challenges that brings.

How Hard is it?

Because of the emphasis on challenging terrain and self-sufficiency, Raids suit the more confident, athletic rider, or groups of friends who may already have done a multi-day trip and want to challenge themselves further.

What kind of assistance can riders expect on the road?

When you’re riding you’ll always have at least one ride guide on the road with the group. Raids are more self-sufficient than a Randonnee, so while a mechanic will be available they won't be tracing the route or offering on-road support during the day. Your guides will be able to help you out with ride food and drink, as well as local knowledge, first aid, a morale-boosting chat and – if necessary – a hand to push you up the hill if you’ve run out of energy.

Can I rent a bike?

We have a fleet of top-specification hire bikes available for rent on our European departures. They cost £50 per day. We ask that guests requiring a bike tell us as far as is possible in advance, so we can guarantee the right size is available, and also to send us your fit measurements, so our mechanics can set up the bike for you ready for the start of your trip. If you’re renting a bike you need to remember to bring your helmet, pedals and saddle to your trip start.
