In 2008 I rode 70 miles with a group of very fast men. I did not consider myself much of a cyclist and I had never ridden that far before. We climbed a long hill called Timber Road. By the time we hit mile 60 the wheels had come off my proverbial wagon. A team of three was sent back to rescue me and I sat in that generous paceline watching my heartrate max out while we pedaled 14mph into a block headwind. I arrived at the finish red-faced and drooling, with a large glob of chocolate Gu smeared across my face.

Last summer saw the first exploit of the European Rapha Continental, with a visit to Bohemia in the Czech Republic finishing atop the magical Ještěd mountain. Tired from the day before, but determined to make the most of the weekend in unknown lands, the next day saw us head even further east into Poland.

The route is divided into seven sectors. The first and last sectors will be ridden by your complete team, whilst the remaining five sectors can be ridden as a relay; the choice of formation is completely at your discretion, as long as at least two members of your team are on the road at any one time. Changeovers will take place at the 'contrôles' at the end of each sector. Over the coming months we’ll look at each sector in detail allowing you to start to devise your ideal strategy.
