Blog Roll
Since I'm sure that you missed me on Friday I thought that something to peruse over your Sunday morning coffee would be best. As a fellow cyclist here in Portland told me recently "The only reason I go to bed at night, is so that I can wake up and have coffee in the morning. And then go ride my bicycle." Or something to that effect.
The only trouble is that finding something interesting to read about coffee in the way of blogs was a bit troublesome. I was looking for a website with a little bit of flare, some good writing, coffee and maybe a shot or two of cycling thrown in the mix?
Recommendations?
Moving on and right into the first one for you.
At some point you're going to have to get out of your cycling kit. When you do you are want to step into some luxury. Be it a new sweater or some South Willard Bluchers. Or if you prefer, take a look at the segments titled "Head to Toe" where James breaks down his entire outfit. Check out the Rapha Criterium Glove in the post here.
I don't really know how to categorize this website. Simply put, it is the place to go for anything related to cycling culture in the U.S. and beyond. Be it fixed or road Tracko has it all. I'll let you figure that out for yourself though. Plus, if you want to really spice up your morning, check out their Flickr page, turns out Kyle's a great photographer as well.
3) Timothy McSweeney's Internet Tendency: McSweeney's Recommends.
The best part about this blog is that its all 'analog' or as analog as a website can be. Most of the recommendations come with witty or irreverent tidbits about where they come from. Note: Also contains actual book recommendations and thought provoking tips for life.
Example 1: "Peanut-butter-and-bacon sandwiches:
Despite what your spouse or loved ones or arteries tell you, there's no shame in eating one of these every now and then. Just be sure to toast the bread. "
Example 2: "Doug Glanville's Op-Extra Column for the New York Times: Glanville is a former major league ballplayer who writes about sports in general and baseball in particular with insight and care."
And in other news:
The New York Times Moment Blog. Rapha's Cycling Suit, earlier this week.
Just thought you should know.
