Exceptional cycling insulation for very cold conditions

In the most extreme conditions, the cold will find even the finest haircrack in your gear. The Deep Winter Collar provides a vital layer of additional insulation around the neck to seal in the warmth of a jersey or jacket. Ideal for winter training rides of medium to high intensity, the collar is cut deeper at the front to cover the base of the neck. It is stitched in two sections, so it can be pulled over the nose and mouth on the coldest rides and the natural breathability of merino means it won’t restrict airflow. The Deep Winter Collar is made from a heavier gauge merino than Rapha’s regular Winter Collar and also has a brushed inner for added warmth. A must-have accessory for very cold conditions, particularly on descents.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Collar to go for at or nearing freezing temps The traditional winter collar is a great item, but I found I was still getting a bit chilled on descents when the temperature dropped to near or below freezing. The Deep Winter collar fixed that problem. With its thicker fabric and versatile construction, this has become another go to Rapha product in the winter. It's fabric even allows for leaving the winter cap at home on harder effort days and just using it combined with a traditional cap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How did I live without this before? This thing has become pretty indispensable to me; in fact, it has all but eliminated the use of a winter cap on all but the coldest (i.e., below freezing) days for me. It covers my ears and head with just the top left exposed, reducing overheating. In cooler weather, I have the option of covering up to my nose, my mouth, my chin, or just my neck. In short, it's an extremely versatile bit of kit. Yes, it's pricey, but in this case, it was worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I bought this a few weeks back and have used it twice in temperatures at or slightly above freezing. I am very happy with this as it takes care of the neck chill I consistently get when riding on cold days. The material is incredibly soft, the workmanship is excellent and it more than takes care of the problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great addition to my winter kit I have just about everything needed for cold winter riding, except my ears and face - which made fast rides in the shade painfully cold. This piece solved that perfectly. I also love merino wool - its warm without being itchy.

How does one wear it?   There is an opening in between the two sections.  Does that go in the front or the back?  Thank you.

Asked by: 2whlnut
Hi, the collar should be worn with opening at the front and the Hi-vis white piping to the rear. The collar is cut deeper at the front to cover the base of the neck. It is stitched in two sections, so it can be pulled over the nose and mouth on the coldest rides and allow the rider to use a bidon without having pulling the collar down.
