Conceived as an all-day outer shell that was windproof, highly breathable (and didn’t involve fluorescent Lycra), the jacket has won numerous plaudits and the latest incarnation includes improved cuff bindings. Versatile enough to be worn in all but the warmest conditions, if you’re looking for the one Rapha product to start restocking your riding wardrobe, this is it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The ultimate cycling jacket After many months of dropping hints I recieved this jacket as a Christmas present. I had read alot of reviews and product desciptions and i must say that it ticks all the boxes and more! Living in Norway brings with it cold and long autumns and winters and as a all season cyclist I need a good jacket to protect me from the elements and this is definately it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For tough rides Rapha quality in every detail. Very good looking. Easy to wear. Hold the cold winds and wet rain away from you. A little short in front but in the back you have extra material all the way below your behind. If you want. Great jacket!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good jacket I expected thicker fabric, but on reflection, it's nicely tailored for what it's meant to do. I still haven't figured out the bum flap with RAPHA written on it, but I guess its intended function will become apparent at some point. This is a very expensive bit of kit. I would recommend it, but with the caveat that probably, if you search, you can find something as good for less money. It just won't have Rapha's name on it. And it might not be as chic.

what is the difference between the classic soft-shell and the pro team soft-shell? Is the latter more water-resistant? Other differences?

Asked by: johnmnz
Hi, The jackets differ on a lot of different technical capabilities and we suggest referring to the web pages for full information of these as the full answer is more complicated. In short the Pro Team Softshell jacket is designed for racing and high-intensity training in wet conditions and is an exceptionally technical race-ready product.. The Classic Softshell offers insulation, breathability and windproofing, water resistance in a Classic cut, created for tempo riding in variety of conditions, the jacket is ideal for winter training.

What is the point of the patch on the left shoulder? I have no idea....

Asked by: 7978
Hi, the shoulder patch is a design detail. When the Classic softshell was first made the patch was positioned to accommodate the strap for a courier type bag to avoid wear on the shoulder. It has now become an intrinsic part of the jackets style.

What is the "fit" of this jacket? I am 6"1 and usually take a medium in "outer" wear and a small/medium in skin wear, with a 16.5 collar size in shirts. I do not want to order the large (Going by your sizing guide) and end up with it being baggy. Thank yo

Asked by: Ben1
The Classic Softshell is what we loosely term a 'club fit'. While still cycling specific the cut is a little more relaxed than out Pro Team Range. We would suggest a medium for your sizing.
