Ardeche Adventure

WORDS: Rene Groot | PHOTOS: Steev Davidson

Six riders from the Rapha Condor women’s team travelled down to the South of France to take part in the 8th Tour Cycliste Feminin International de L’Ardeche. Often regarded as one of the hardest on the women’s UCI calendar, the race climbs over 6000 meters during its six stages, taking the peloton through one of the most beautiful regions in France.

The team, consisting of Alli Holland, Anna Fischer, Emma Grant, Natalie Creswick, Natasha Perry and Rebecca Curley, went out on a steep learning curve. The Tour de l’Ardeche takes place just weeks before the World Championships and the winner of this race is guaranteed to be there or there abouts during the Worlds, in fact only four non national/UCI teams managed to get an invitation (one of these consisting out of mostly professional riders from other teams). This and the stage profiles made the riders realise just how tough the task ahead was going to be.
