Aaron Erbeck
aka The Doctor

Aaron McCaig Erbeck was born February 18, 1971 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He’s “The Doctor” because he’s prepared for anything, be it mechanical, personal, spiritual or existential in nature. With one re-appropriated tube of Nuun, never far away, and it’s introduced contents, he can easily handle even the worst mood, digestive and heat related complaints. He can fix anything, including the twenty-one-foot pocket, a 1971 cream-and-gold Dodge Travco. He travels with a black work smock and an old square suitcase, the kind without wheels or extending handles. It’s blue and vinyl. Inside are his clothes and five reused coffee bags marked with black sharpie: Pain, Clean, Secret, Shave and Fun.
Aaron has the most uniquely powerful laugh of anyone living. It’s incredibly loud and awe inspiring, and an excellent compliment to his observation skills and smile. He’s a right-brain thinker and a left-brain thinker, a genius at the extreme ends of either side. Obviously, he’s got style, which has nothing to do with clothes, though he does wear several amazing homemade shirts courtesy of Mom.
Six years ago Aaron and Tracy met on a ride. Shortly after, Aaron, living and working in Portland at the time, made the move to Seattle to be with Tracy. They’ve been living, riding and traveling together ever since. They were married in 2005 and nine months later, to the day, their son True was born. Aaron is working an endless double as a father of two in a 110 year old house and as a Technician for a Seattle company building medical training devices.

| Favorite Garment: | Any of the winter kit. The Winter Jersey is incredible. After you've owned one, try wearing something else. I had never known my hips were suffering on winter rides until i got 3/4 Bib Shorts. The soft brushed-back Thermoroubaix fabric inside protects you so well and without inhibiting. Absolute must have for the North West and probably everywhere else! Stowaway, it's so well designed and the fabric is incredible. Ahhh…the Gilet - year round this piece comes with me. |

"There’s a special feeling that comes from building a bicycle and then riding and racing it. It’s the A move for sure. While we’re at it, so is riding to dinner with my wife on our tandem, in the rain, wearing my Derby. And now that I’m thinking about it, so is stuffing Ira in the hurt locker. I think it is at least, I dont know yet for sure. There needs to be a single word that describes the happiness, love and freedom I experience when riding bicycles. Wikipedia?”
